I have four Atlas articulated auto carriers in three-rail. I'm thinking about selling a couple of them (too big) and converting the other two to 2-rail. Do I use 100-ton or 70-ton roller-bearing trucks (or a combination thereof)?
Thanks.

Matt,
Per the Atlas O website page for the Articulated Auto Carriers, it looks like the answer is 70 ton trucks. Also, let me know which ones you are selling as I am interested in getting a few.
the prototypes have smaller 28" wheels under them rather than the 33" , might be a factor on what will fit under the car as well.
Thanks for the replies. I'll put in an order for some new trucks. I'll have to pull the cars out of their boxes to see which ones are going.
Matt,
if you will, please post photos of your 2 rail conversions when finish them, would love to see them.
Thanks, John
I love these cars, don't get me wrong. I have lost, probably 6 (?) of the couplers, now. They go without warning and all of a sudden, & the train is shorter. I said I was going to convert all of them to KDs. I never got around to it yet.
If you run long trains, be aware of that failure possibility. The stock couplers also don't like being shoved backwards, I believe. Maybe that's why I lost so many.

I feel your pain. I bought a few 2-rail Atlas cars and lost couplers to zinc pest. If you use the plastic Kadee boxes, you can squeeze them onto the Atlas mounts without re-drilling, but the end of the box sticks out of the end sill a bit. If I get off the dime and buy a drill/tap set maybe I'll fix a couple of the cars I've done.
Hi
I’m interested in buying one of the cars you’re selling.
I am in Australia though.
Thanks
