As I'm watching game 7 of the NLCS, I can't help but notice the Bascule Bridge down the first base line. I google earthed it and you can see the reflection of the bridge on the pavement. I'm connecting this thread to trains through Lionel's model of the Bascule Bridge. This one is made for car traffic. Just thought it was neat! Anyone from the Bay area care to comment?

Was from the Bay Area. The bridge seldom operates anymore because there is not much need for it anymore. If you Google to the right a little ways there's another smaller bridge. It was designed by Joseph Strauss who deigned the Golden Gate Bridge. The last time I saw any large ship sitting there was the last Matson Lines Passenger ship Monterey after it was decommissioned.  400px-Joseph_Strauss_Memorial
