I have a "dummy" question. I have never owned a dummy loco before, but I have a couple on the way, both Atlas F-7s. One is a dummy A-unit. In a DC environment, I understand that you can still have directional lighting. However, in a DCC environment, with AC current, how do the lights work on a dummy A? Are they just simply always on regardless of locomotive direction?

A function only decoder will give you control to do what you want with the lighting. Having never messed with a 2 rail dummy, I defer to someone who has to know what the lights will do without any add ons.
Thanks for the info. I’m hoping someone has an Atlas 2-rail F-7A dummy and can give first hand information.
if I’m going to put in a decoder, I’ll put in a sound decoder to get sound from both A and B units.
