I am fortunate to have a fellow teacher at work who shares my love of model railroading and happens to be an art teacher. I asked him if he'd like to try weathering one of my cars, and he agreed. I think he was intrigued by using a larger canvass (his scale is HO). Here is what he was able to do in a couple hours. I welcome your comments on the quality of his work, what could be added or improved upon, and a fair price for his services. Thanks for looking.

Rattler: I think he was going for more of an early used look. We did talk about rust, but I think he only did that around the couplers. Also, I believe Weaver was charging $50 per car/engine. Does that sound right?

Max: Very happy!

SIRT: Can you please be more specific about "unfinished"?

Andre: I think I get what you're saying. Do you have a photo showing an example of such an effect?

Thanks for the responses!

Looks great. I have paid for car weathering anywhere from $20.00 to $45.00 per car. All came out nicely. If I was to pay someone regularly I would expect to may $30.00 per car. I have weathered cars, do a good job but what I am finding out is I simply don't have the time to invest right now - so I am willing to pay.

SIRT did a few for me, they are / look great and get nice comments. I have a few from the local hobby shop that I purchase already done - cost was $65 weathered and the car.

Hope that helps. Would love to have an artist in the area willing to do it for me.

K
