Im curious about how effective these are in placing cars. I currently use typical uncoupler sections, while they work fine for uncoupling that doesnt help with the solid nudge shall we say that is sometimes needed to couple back up. I am wondering if the autos help with the coupling also. In short do they close from the handheld also or just open? Im probably one of the few that run the Aristo rc system on converted conventional engines, but if the autos make single car placement and pickup alot easier I will invest in a MTH swither and DCS system to run also just to raise it up a notch.

Hopefully I understand your question. I think you're asking do O Gauge eletro couplers on engines couple up easily when open and backed into another coupler. If so, then with Lionel engine couplers, the answer is generally yes, but of course it works best when there's some resistance to back into, like a train with at least several cars. It also depends on what brand is the other coupler and on whether it's open or closed. MTH engines I wouldn't know about.

I've never heard of electro or automatic couplers in O Gauge that close remotely.
