Yes, those are Brooklin.  That Plymouth was on sale at Diecast direct and that got me hooked, I ended up buying more... those Brooklin cars have been as fun to buy as the trains!

Well I thought I would finish up another one tonight. This is a Revell Kenworth with Don Mills wheels. I added a scratch built stack and gear shifts (4x4). The wheels and Cab lights were painted with a Chrome Pen. I’ll add the turn signals tomorrow.

Lee you sure are doing a wonderful job on your truck manufacturing side job. Things sure look outstanding! Where do you get your decals? I ordered a Chrome Pen but won't be here till Wednesday.  I sure hope it works as well as everyone is saying!

Ted can you tell me what size pen you got? 1mm, 2mm?

Mike, I got the 2 MM, but I recommend the 1MM. It works great and really is chrome.  The results are fantastic.  I say 1 MM because working on 1/43 or smaller cars, the 2 MM dosen't fit into all the small spots around grills, tail lights, head lights, etc.  It is a heck of a pen.  Well worth the money'.  I wish I had known of these pens when I started modeling........ I will be ordering a 1MM from Amazon.....shortly...

Hi Ted, I had to look back and see what I ordered and I went with the 1mm. I am really looking forward to using it on the fire engine. I wonder how it does with clear coat applied?

You won't have any problem.  I used it on two cars I'm working on and they both have clear coat on them.. I'll try and post one or both later if I can finish them up... As you know, it is a timely process'....😁

Mike I got these off of eBay there actually NP caboose decals and the ICC decal numbers are from a 1/25 AMT Peterbilt Cabover I’ve had for about 35 years. I mix and match all different scales all the time. I like thinking out side the box. You won’t be disappointed about the pen just make sure you shake it up before using every time and it has a shelf life about 2 years after that mine lost the Chrome look now it’s a Silver look

Lee, thanks, do you have one supplier you like there product over others on the decals? The reason I ask is some folks say they have problems with some.

Mike, its real chrome'. I don't think the clear coat will affect it anyway. I clear coat after the final spray of color.  I don't always clear coat depending on what kind of pain I use.  But I think on your fire engine, I'd clear coat, then chrome.  You have time, as your chrome pen is on the way'...

Thank you for the advice. I will paint the hose first and  then clear coat.

Mike I mostly buy from eBayers that have 100%-99.8 Feedback  Any less than that I move on.

Although a more vendor “store bought” solution would’ve worked perfectly fine, I chose to buy my own discrete LEDs and other parts and build a very simplified series circuit based on my knowledge of electronics and LEDs. In addition to a conventional 3-rail track power buss around my layout, I have a 12VDC and a 5VDC buss as well.

Okay car & truck lovers', here is my latest restorations.  You can really see the liquid Chrome on some of the shots.  This stuff really works great... A 59 Chevy that was originally a taxi cab, and a 50 Packard.  Before and after shots respectively.

Paul, with all those folks at the dog stand make's me want one. But then I started looking around and I think with all the Taxi's around the Dog stand owner is shipping people in to get others to think they must be the best dogs around! I think I will pass till someone I know tells me there the best! LOL

CJ, wonderful work on the LED's! Looks nice.

Ted, you have done an outstanding job on the last 2 restores I didn't know where you were going to get the windshield for the 50, but looks great! I am guessing the 59 had the glass or you were able to find some on the net! It also looks great. Looks a lot better as a family car then scary looking Taxi. But then again if you kept it as a Taxi you might have been able to sell it to Paul to help ship dog lovers in! LOL

That Revell Kennworth looks great!  I've got a 1/43 (AMT?) Peterbuilt 359 kit that I've been putting off until I'm braver.  I hadn't thought of doing it in a railroad livery.  Maybe some research is in order...

On the blog you can see another batch of the Caipo $5 die cast came in and this batch is as good as the last.  Darned impressed with these little cheapies in terms of detail and fidelity to scale. I especially like the Kia and Buick which are great examples of the kind of "average" cars I'd like to have more of.

Anyone sell sheets of state-specific license plate decals?  It'd be a fun project to put Illinois plates on all my vehicles.

Would you mind sharing which LED's, resistors and jacks you used?

I've wired up a few already-battery-lit toy vehicles to 4.5V adapters with barrel jacks, but I haven't yet taken the plunge of installing my own lights.

So here’s the eBay glue glob nightmare. I’m hoping I can make decent truck of it. The front wheels are Don Mills with the AMT kit wheel ring and New Ray tires. I also will be adding New Ray tanks and a stack. I’ve already painted the cab and hood

Here’s some AMT Peterbilt’s I need to finish. I used the Chrome pen on the Red Watkins tanks and grill and wheels. I have roughly about 16 of these Kits.

This just arrived in the mail today... Brooklin 47 Chrysler Town & Country.  No more purchases for me for a while by order of my wife, but even she had to admit it is a good looking car.  Thanks, Ben

They are all great looking trucks'.. I never knew they came in 1/43 scale.  Years back I built a few in 1/24 scale. I must say the quality is there in the AMT kits of all scales.  They were a buck and a quarter when I was a kid at the local hobby shop'...

Ted, Awesome Looking restos! Keep in mind you can buy replacement windscreens, but I’ll tell you, what you have there looks great. Aren’t those chrome pens neat? I’m so glad I took the plunge and decided to try one. Well worth the money! Here’s a tip, fill in your bumper dings with putty, then sand or file them smooth, your bumpers will thank you! Or at least the owners of those newly restored rides will!!

Ted, when I finish the railyard under construction now, I may try one...will be asking for direction!  When I was a kid, I enjoyed building Revell and AMT kits...not restorations, but always painting  and detail involved...that was a long time ago

Ben, that 47 Chrysler by Brooklin is sharp...I like the luggage rack on the roof...here's my version of the '47 T & C below...

Fabulous collection of tractors and rigs, Lee!  Looks like the latest one is coming to life...pretty soon those dual diesel tanks will need filling...!
