Talking to the MTH people at the Big E in January, the indication was that the next WIU firmware release which would have Super TIU functionality between WIUs, was targeted for the end of February 2017.  As we are now in March, has anyone recently received an update of when the next WIU firmware release might be available?

Thanks,

We have also been waiting patiently for the premium release.  At our club, we have a lot of "OUT of RF Range"  error messages and hopping that the WIFI connection will help address that problem.  We currently have one working WIU/TIU combination connected and the engines are a lot more responsive, (no "out of RF Range" messages) on that section of the layout.

Your OUT OF RF RANGE error messages are very possibly because you have a loose transceiver board in either a remote or TIU. If you get those messages on the remote (they don't exist in the DCS App) when it's talking to the TIU that works well with the WIU and the DCS App, then the loose transceiver board is in the remote.

Barry,

we have at least 50 remotes and Bob has probably replaced all TIU's at least a dozen times. My brand spanking new remotes - all 3 experienced the Out of Range message today.

Based on the experience I have had along with many other club members, the radio module and remote design need improvement. My bet is a little more power to the Radio found in the TIU and Remote also with a better antenna system would vastly improve this. But again, the NJ HIRailers layout is not a typical model RR.

MTH would do themselves a world of good if they took the product to Sierra Wireless or a company that has RF Engineers on staff who could dramatically improve the product and write code.

I agree with Matt, this is way too long to market and is frustrating that this us 15 months in the making.

Thanks Barry

I will do a test of using both the hand held and the DCS app at the same time and compare results, and also check the board in the handheld.
