I scored a set of Williams aluminum passenger cars from the for sale forum. They are in great shape but dull silver. I have a set of Weaver aluminum cars and they are super shiny. I have seen the same Williams cars I have listed on auction sights and they were shiny too.
What is the best way to polish the cars?
I assume it will be tricky with the fluted finish and all.
Has anyone here successfully polished aluminum passenger cars?

I have, washed the with mild dish soap and warm water and then used Brasso with a tooth brush to polish my Post War Lionel cars. Looks good but takes a very look time and lots of elbow grease.
Do you take the cars apart for this or can you leave them put together?

Some Wms/ WbB came just as yours. IMHO You could ruin at least one car by going ahead. It might be a wise thing to purchase another set like you're wishing for. If you are determined, Nevr-dull is a great product.

Yes, you'll need to take the cars apart and cover any name plates and lettering. I've always used Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish. Its messy as everything gets black as coal but it works great.

I also use Semichrome polish and apply it with an old electric toothbrush. If you don't have one they make some cheap battery ones. Takes a lot of the elbow grease out.

I also use this on my vintage muscle cars.
I did use it on one aluminum passenger car that had an issue.....it works but it is not easy and I can see that it could go wrong very fast!
