It will visit our local Amtrak station in Victorville on 4-28 at 12:30PM.

(I'll have to get an extra roll of film for my Instamatic!)

It will be hauled up the Cajon Pass by either BNSF or UP power, over 2.2% and 3% ruling grades.

Here's a shot of the Pass with BNSF power:

There is NO WAY that the BNSF will have any of their locomotives on the UP's highly publicized 4014 movement to Cheyenne. It will be specially selected UP diesels, probably road numbers 4884 and/or 4014, or something else very significant.

It will be pulled by UP engines on the UP track (old SP line), Mojave Sub, all the way up to Silverwood, where it will cross over to the BNSF tracks. It will NOT be running on the triple track BNSF line, which means it will be quite a bit more difficult to get to as a railfan.

Maybe I'll see you there, Chris...I assume you know how to get to the Victorville Amtrack Depot?

It's too bad they had to disconnect the 4 piston rods and valve gear links so 4014 could be towed free-wheeling...it won't look right to those in the know.
