I'm getting some distortion and scratching sound from the engine sound system, it's been hardly used and I installed a new charged 2.4 battery. Could it be a bad speaker? If so anyone have a part number for the MTH PS2 3v speakers.

Could be. You can try a reset. Make sure speaker has not picked up any metal from the track causing static. The MTH 50mm dia 4 ohm speaker is BF-0000034. G

Thanks GGG, I put back on the track today and everything worked fine 
Must run it more often been sitting for a couple of years in the box.
