@Mark Boyce  Mark that engine pulls up the grade nicely. No bumping or swaying - that means a great track and base job. Congrats.

On a lighter side, I think you are stuck in the rusty red box and ore car color mode. I think you may need a graffiti artist to provide some color to those long freights. Do you own any other colors for freight cars?  ; )

Jeff,  I do like boxcar red and WM oxide red hoppers!  I need to show you the billboard reefers!  That will add some color; mostly yellow!  😆

Thank you about the engine pulling nicely.  I am pleased with how well they navigate up and down the grades!

MTH recently produced highly detailed models of 40-foot USRA wood-sided double-sheathed boxcars.

I preordered New Haven 78000 (20-99327) and liked it so much that I ordered two more similar cars – New Haven 78006 (also 20-99327) and New York Central 161523 (20-99325). I particularly like the wood grain on the sides, fishbelly underframes, and rollers that support the lower edges of the doors.

During World War 1, the United States Railroad Administration (USRA) developed standard designs for freight cars, including single and double-sheathed wood-sided boxcars with steel underframes, ends, side-frames and roofs. The New York Central car shows a build date of January 1919. By 1920, 24,500 double-sheathed cars had been delivered, and many remained in service through World War 2.

Thanks Lee, I a brown one with an older font and built date but need to convert it to 3 rail. Maybe next week.

A late submission for Boxcar Sunday. The Sacramento Northern was primarily an electric railway between Oakland, CA and Chico/Oroville, CA. Western Pacific purchased it in 1922 and was operated as a subsidiary.

Boxcar for this fine Sunday!   A Premier MTH boxcar in Reading livery.  

Well Sunday has had a number of labels recently, both "Santa Fe Sunday" and "Boxcar Sunday" so today I thought I might go for a "twofer"  and post some Santa Fe boxcars and stock cars, all these are from Mr. Marx.

First an 8 wheel SF boxcar in white, made about 1970

Next a picture of the same boxcar but in orange, dating from as early as 1956 along with the Santa Fe #1998 Alco S-3 Switcher in black / white from1962.

OK how about some stock cars (close to box cars) the first is the ATSF stock car with the 8 wheel plastic body but fitted with scale trucks.  Marx did this in 1955 to expand the scale line at minimum cost.

The metal 3/16" scale stock car from the early 50's.  This a true scale car on scale trucks.

Finally an ATSF work caboose from 1962

Here are 2 kinda unique MTH Rugged Rails Boxcars. Both have paint schemes that I’ve not seen in O Gauge before. Both are Lionel 6464 traditional size.

Both Katy cars were painted using K4 decal sets.

The Erie Geep is a Red Caboose product, I believe. I have two and they need some detail work to bring them up to decent appearances. I have a number of Erie Geeps. A hometown favorite!

Here is a recent purchase from Trainz. It was made by Weaver. I have a florescent light going out and tried many angles, but the car never looks dark green which it is. Truthfully, I don't hate it in blue either. I have new modern lighting to install when time permits.

Here’s 2 Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club (CLRC) exclusive offerings from a while ago. Touted as express baggage a/o reefers, I believe the scheme is a fantasy. The brake wheel on the door is different, too. Haven’t seen that before or since these were released.

                                     Working on REA install / décor today....

Three boxcars - Spokane Portland & Seattle #11091, Maine Central #36123, and New York Central #92102 - ran behind New York Central 0-8-0 steam engine #415 on my 12’-by-8’ layout this week.

Well hello BxCr Sun fans, it's rather an overcast, rainy day here in central Texas I hope its more sunny where you are.  Today I have two boxcars from radically different perspectives on what constitutes a "model" train.

First its a Hafner refer from about the middle 50's just before Hafner was taken over by Wyandotte toys.  Its a member of the smaller line of Hafner (they made (at least) 2 lines of these "streamlined" freight cars differing very little except in size)  . Next to this little gal is a full scale, R.F.P. outside braced boxcar by Atlas, a contemporary item, I bought in about 2021.  I was drawn to the R.F.P. because for many years the office building I worked in was in view of the R.F.P freight yard in Alexandria, Va on the outskirts of D.C.  The Hafner car is only about 1/2 the length of the Atlas "scale" car.  To me, this kind of comparison shows the broad perspective of folks who enjoy our hobby.  I like to think I can enjoy both, my Atlas car moves in my layout pulled by my best diesels and switchers.  The Hafner car screams around a circle of 0-27 2 rail track pulled by the Hafner (clockwork) loco on the front porch of a family summer retreat.  I like them both.

At our club's open house today.

Boxcar for today!   Tony just installed a supercharger in his forklift.   He can now zoom around like lightening ... his fellow forklift operators now call him " The Streak"!  

This Lionel traditional sized boxcar works wonderfully for creating forced perspective  in this photo.  This boxcar has the harmonica playing hobo ( with sound ) inside who never seems to know the bridge to I've Been Working on the Railroad.  LOL!

Love the car, Bill. The older I get the more I like muscle cars (maybe because I don't have any muscles anymore  ) A little bit older, but I have this: a '75 Triumph Spitfire (one owner). Another reason I like the bigger cars is it wouldn't take a forklift to get me in and out of the driver's seat.

I need to look for one of the WW II boxcars and see if there isn't one with a Spitfire (and a pretty girl) on it.

I wanted one of these SO badly when I was in high school riding around on my various cobbled together bicycles. I'll bet she's a blast! I don't know how Weaver decided on the cars to represent on their boxcars, but there should have been one with your Spitfire on it

P.S. I believe the Wings of Angels series might have the Spitfire you're looking for.
