Cab 2 Base 2 not connecting

It's version 1.52 on both base and remote...

I've seen a couple times where the CAB2 couldn't find the base, but if you set the base to the channel the CAB2 was on it was fine.  My sense would be to try updating the CAB2 and base to the current versions as a start.

so if i make the 2.52 module i have writable per your instructions... i shouldn't need it...right? or should i buy another module to use?

Actually, the current Legacy command system versions are CAB 1.74 and base 1.60.  You can do them one at a time with one writable module.

well i was wrong with the version i have... its v1.52...but i have the 2 blue modules... if i make one of them writable with the instructions you have from another post... there is no reason i should need to keep it and buy a writable one ... right?

Correct, converting the blue modules to writable modules makes them the same as what you would buy.

Is it safe to do the "cut pin" method ... or should i go through the trouble and do the  soldering method?

Ok i just lifted the pins and it wrote ok... i updated both base(1.6) and the remote(1.74)... the legacy app says the base is 1.6 so that looks like it updated for sure...

Same issue though with the remote...if i set base to channel 1...i keep hitting the retry ...it keeps hitting the red light like it is trying to connect to the base but it goes back to the channel 1- base not found ...

The Cab 1L still connects to the base...

Any other ideas to try?

Well, it sounds like the remote has a problem.  You can call Lionel, up to recently they were still servicing the CAB2 remotes.

That's good, at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel... even if it is an oncoming train!

hmmmm..one more bit of info tho...hopefully unrelated... i have to point the cab 1L remote directly at the base 2 for it to get the signals... can the antenna be disconnected or something?? that base 1l i can point anywhere so 1L remote seems ok...

Ok so i took the base apart and the wires to the antenna are not connected to it... anyone know if there is an easy way to get access to resolder the wires???

How in the world did the wires get unsoldered???

I'm not sure how to answer the question, if you see the wires unsoldered what "access" are you needing to fix them?

I can view it from the side, but it is above the board and i cant quite get to it...i was hoping not to have to remove the board to get to it(less things to screw up for me)... but maybe i will try ... thanks...

Well, it probably was the CAB2 issue.  If the antenna isn't connected, when the CAB2 was looking for the command base, it probably didn't see it for good reason.  I suspect your CAB2 is probably fine.

y wierd that the 1L was able to connect though... oh well now i got to wait for lionel to send it back

i removed 2 screws that were attached to the antenna in the base and i was able to push the connector through so i have easy access to solder now...

Ok so i was able to re-attach the wires, but still not getting good "reception"... any other thoughts?

Not really, I think that's one I'd have to be looking at to see what might be going on.
