Friend is brand new to this hobby and wants HO scale. Has this MTH transformer and wants to run his DC HO train. How can he do this. I know the remote AC switches can feed off the transformer's accessary post, but again, what about running his train with the Z-1000 controller.
Thanks for your help and know this isn't an O gauge question. I failed in switching him over to O just due to its large size.

Have him buy a DC tranny and sell the MTH 1000, pocket some money
+1 to Dgauss. Get a DC power pack. They are not expensive for what he wants to do. Get him to check EBay(in the HO section of model RR) for any of the MRC(Model Rectifier Corp) units. try one of the Tech 2 power packs---
Thanks gentleman and I mean thank you. While, yes, my question was can the MTH Z-1000 run a dc train like Bachmann HO, I think going to Radio Shack and ask for the parts would litterally floor my friend. While the AC transformer can operate the AC accesories; he will probaly leave it at that and use the DC power pack to run the train.
Makes me me really appreciate the heff as they say and the ease of use using AC power with my O and AF trains.
