DCC and DCS can't run on the layout at the same time. However, a layout properly wired to support DCC will support DCS (you have to turn off and/or disconnect the DCC booster connection(s) into the layout) and vice-versa. MTH Proto-3 engines can operate on either system (move the DCC/DCS selector switch), plus will run on AC or DC conventional.

Matt is correct but what I am planning to do is use DPDT switches to determine which type of power goes to each mainline track. This way I could run a DCC locomotive on one mainline and a DCS locomotive on the other mainline. It's somewhat similar to the old block wiring but instead of blocks you are controlling an entire mainline. This system will allow me to run a PS2 DCS engine.
