Hi all,
Can someone explain why this Atlas O Trainman 50'6" Railbox Boxcar is listed as an "Alternate History Paint Scheme"?
It is the first Railbox boxcar listed at the link below (3R #2003101 / 2R #2003151)

My guess is that the RBOX cars usually have the large “rail r box” logo to the left of the door.
It's possible that scheme was found on other cars, but maybe not the 50'6" boxcar.
Pic of 60' excess height car:
The reporting marks on the prototype car are TBOX but the Atlas model shows RBOX. RBOX does not exist as a rail entity.
The TBOX cars have the combination doors. RBOX are single sliding doors. AFAIK all RBOX cars have/had the large "rail r box" logo sort of like this:
rail
r box
So the reporting mark is correct, but the paint scheme is not.
Why would Atlas come so close on purpose rather than just make it correct?
The paint job is wrong for the style of car. Here's the same series as the car above (yes I know the door is different).

They have made these cars with the correct scheme. I presume these are older cars that they have not or will not be repainting. The 60' high cubes were done in the large 'TTX' scheme and are correct. My guess is they did this to do something different, but agree that it is dumb. They should have just done more road numbers of a correct paint scheme.
TTX pools the railbox box cars, but has not repainted them with their current logo.
This is what a boxcar would look like with the current scheme for other TTX pooled box cars.

Considering how many people jump on the fantasy paint scheme bandwagon nowadays, does it really matter anymore????
