Good evening everyone,

Today just as I came out of the shower, I heard some heavy machinery in my backyard. I knew it had to be the SIRT working on the railroad, so I quickly reached for my phone and took a few pictures. You must be pretty fast because they don't stay in one place for very long. The worker driving the crane saw me taking these pictures and he gave me the thumbs up. I'm calling it a crane does anyone know the proper name for this machine. Thanks for looking.

P.S.  I was trying to catch the diesel engine going by, but I wasn't fast enough

Thanks guys for all the interest!!!!!!

Don That's all I can say is I'm so jealous, what could be better than having a mai tai

and working in your beautiful yard. Let's see some of your beautiful yard work. LOL

Dude this area is called Tottenville

Alan the train is 100 feet from the back of my house, the ocean is about a 1/2 mile away. Having the train so close is a plus to me, I get to see all types of railroad equipment

Thanks Dan for the info

Tottenvile -  that's all the way at the end of the Island.  I bet a lot has changed since I left SI in 1984.  I grew up in Westerleigh.

Wow, that is a great location Alex. It reminds me of when my parents were looking for a new house on Long Island back in the 60's and saw this one house that had railroad tracks right behind the house. Mom said she would not want a house that had the railroad that close, so that was the end of the possibility of that dream house. Boy was I upset that she felt that way.

A big thank you too all of you guys

Cesar, yes you are totally right, that store Hot bagels is awesome. Here's another bagel store around the block from me which is right under the train overpass .

Ray thanks for posting some beautiful photo's of the diesel's

Dennis you're right, the way I wrote my post it did pretty much sound that way. Dennis as always you're welcomed anytime at my home.

Steve great photo from year's ago.

Dude Tottenville has changed a lot, there must be triple the homes now then there was in 1984. there's a lot of great bagel store's in this area.

Johnny I can understand why your mom didn't want the railroad behind the house, it can get loud from time to time. But being a train guy I love it.

Thanks to all, Alex

THIS IS AROUND THE CORNER FROM MY HOME, THE TRAIN OVERPASS IN THE BACKGROUND LEADS TO MY HOME. NOTICE THE BAGEL STORE

When I took the photo's of the crane I was fully dressed. LOL

When I took the photo's of the overpass the light just turned green,I wasn't moving yet, and anyway most of my friends and neighbor's are police.

Alex, don't have many pictures of the yard. None of the side yard. But we have sixteen banana trees there. These are some of the orchids we are growing in the front yard under a coconut tree. I don't know what the other flower is but there are lots of them. Right outside the dinning room we are putting in a pond that you can step over to get to the side door. There will be steps in the pond. The hole is done and almost ready to go. The side yard is big and I've thought of a outdoor railroad but not tell I finish the one inside. Don
