Some folks have always been rude. It's not cell phones, it's people. Unless you ban people, you won't ban rude.

That most definitely did not happen.  Although some people were using their cell phones inside the halls, I did not see one instance of the users impeding the movement of others.  As it is in our society in general, there will always be an occasional obnoxious buffoon or two around, but I didn't witness a single instance of misuse of the new policy.

And since the ambient noise inside the halls is always considerable in any case, making phone conversations difficult at best, many folks still stepped outside to carry on their conversations.  That's what I did on several occasions.

Common sense and courtesy is all that is required.  Fortunately, most people have a good bit of both.

Much fuss over nothing.  The cell phone restriction has been eliminated, and people should really just accept the decision for what it is.  Most, I think, will be perfectly content with the result, and most will be happy to exercise consideration in how and where they use their phones.

Photographs are still prohibited, but there are different reasons for that rule even though most (all?) smart phones today have built-in cameras.  Naturally, just about anyone could take a photo without their actions even being noticed, but if that photo is "published" somewhere--online or elsewhere--the individual who took that photo risks suspension or termination from TCA membership (and it's easy enough today to track down the source).

As opposed to the thousands of jerks who just stop and stand in the middle of the aisle just to chit chat (which I've seen happen numerous times) or the ones who have chairs in front of their tables that block traffic while they sit there (which I've also seen numerous times).

Ignorant, clueless people will always find a way to be a problem in a group setting and always will be no matter what we do to try and stop it. If I were to stop going places or doing things because there was a handful of morons being difficult there I'd never leave my house and that includes going to work!

Odd how some are so loud on a cell phone. I wonder if it's because they cannot hear themselves speaking through the receiver...or maybe they can't get the string tight enough.

Got it in one

Landlines had that characteristic. Without it, (and with phones so small that the microphone can be a considerable distance from one's mouth), some folks think the other party won't hear them if they don't raise their voice.
