The screw tightening guy must have been on break in China and the screw loosener had to fill in. Received two units, one the front electrolcoupler was VERY loose, and another small frame screw was in the box. Same for the other unit but the rear electrocoupler and another small frame screw.  Checked all the others and several needed to be tightened.

I received my SD40 2 days ago and one of the frame screws fell off as I was taking the locomotive out of the box.  I will say this, the engine ran.  My last purchase before this were two Amtrak F40PH's.  Those had all kinds of issues.  Needles to say, I'm a little skeptical of buying anymore Lionel stuff.  I am still disappointed with the couplers they are using on their freight cars.  Bring back the hidden tab couplers.

Not time to move on, but time to open your engine and locate it's factory faults and take matters into your own hands.

A little glue at the inserts takes care of the problem.  What do you expect for several hundred dollars.

19/20, are you serious with this statement/question??  I assume you’re joking.  For the cost of this engine (approximately $500), I expect to receive a product that doesn’t have screws and/or parts literally falling off.  Is that too much to ask?

I have my CSX SD40, in the trunk of my car, new in the box...My dealer said it’s Fine, beautiful, and will be on the layout tomorrow after church.  I am so glad he checked it out. Now, While at his store in Evansville Indiana today, he was running a nice steam train with his I-Phone, so cool. I used my I-Phone 6 and because I have the Lionel App on my phone, was able to run his train to.  I think young folks will really like this new technology....Wow...Happy Railroading...

Umm, the older I get, the worse my sarcasm gets

I'm simply amassed at the cost of these products and a screw can't be tightened at the factory
