Hello. Need some help please. My father handed me down some lionel engines which I have been testing out. I have one set of F3 KCS (archive) engines which are command equipped (6-14501 & 6-14502). I don't have the Cab-1 or Cab-2 systems so I was just trying the engines out with conventional power supply. When I turn up the power supply (14 volts) the powered unit will not move even after powering off and on to cycle through Fwd/Neutral/Rev. The non powered unit which contains the railsounds will start up the engine sounds and seems to respond as a non-powered engine should. The powered unit has 2 lights in the front, one for headlight and the other for the main cab light. The cab light will come on and stay on, the headlight will not turn on. But the headlight will blink every 4 seconds or so. I have also left it sitting for several minutes with the power on. I am using a 1033 lionel transformer for power. The boards in the powered unit are ACDR Rev B for the motor driver and R2LC08 for the radio. Based on reading other forums here I have re-seated the R2LC08, confirmed I am in RUN mode, measured 14 volts reaching the motor driver board (red wire), no voltage reaching either (front/rear) pullmore motors. I have pulled out both radio and motor driver boards and don't see any bulging capacitors or burnt traces/components.
I do have a couple other engines that are command equipped but after checking they do not have the same boards so I can't swap them out. These other engines do work (sound/motion) with the same transformer.
These KCS (archive) engines are pretty much brand new so I hope to be able to fix them. Based on what I have read this is likely one of the boards. Just not sure of the best way to test them. Has anyone experienced this same scenario before or have suggestions?
