I posted this message before.  Running a conventional engine on my DCS and the horn and whistle while come on for no reason while running.  Must constantly try to turn off.  Presently, have a MTH40-1000A Z-1000 Brick Power Supply and MTH controller.  Power supply is attached to controller and running wires to Fixed 1 and attached wires from Fixed 1 to Variable 1.  What am I doing wrong.  My apologies to the gentlemen who responded to this earlier, I could not figure out how reply to your questions.  Daviddp

David,

When operating conventional engines on tracks connected to the TIU outputs, use either on of the following methods, but not both:

  • Connect the transformer's controller into Fixed #1 In and connect Fixed #1 Out to the tracks. Then, operate the conventional engines from the controller.
  • Connect the transformer directly into Variable #1 In without using the transformer's controller and connect Variable #1 Out to the tracks. Also, connect Variable #1 In to Fixed #1 In or connect a power source to the TIU's Aux. Power port. Then, operate the conventional engines using the Remote's TR screen.

If you use both the TIU's TR screen and also the transformer's controller, you will get all sorts of undesirable results.
