I have a non-powered C44 (1933233) and I want to turn it into a powered unit. Am I able to? I have a railsounds and radio board from a 2017 diesel, but what else is necessary? Will I be able to add motors to the existing trucks?

I’ve never tried this before. I’m just wondering how complex it would be. Also, is there a guide to this process already made somewhere?

It depends on the type of trucks they used.  Since there is no parts breakdown for that engine, you'll have to "pop the top" and post some pictures so we can see what you have.  The addition of the motors depends on what trucks are in it, but I'm guessing they'll be the dummy trucks with no gears, so you'll need to buy trucks and motors.

It's not going to be cheap, the trucks are $50/ea, and the motors are $15/ea.  Then you'll have to add all the electronics in addition to that, not to mention all the lighting, etc.

My advice is to look for a powered unit someone dropped and use your shell on it.

Do I need to worry about compatibility with different frames if I just swap shells? Reason I ask is, I thought I’ve heard of times someone tried to do the same but the screws didn’t line up, so they had to drill new ones or find some other solution.
