Anyone have experience creating water slide decals by taking a picture of a faded image from my train? How would i enhance the image to create a new one

I made these water slide decals from the same software that I used to make the vinyl decal on my real work truck. I would think that you could take a photo of the old image then use a photoshop software to enhance it then crop it and print the water slide.

Haven't worked with water slide decals, but I've captured images and printed them on self-stick labels, to good effect. Usually I've been able to find a straight-up image to print, but in at least one case I used a cropped photo of the WS piece I'd installed earlier from an on-line source, to capture and recreate a logo for a Coca-Cola delivery truck I was modifying to sit next to the shop:

I've also had good luck printing logos (and cropped photos) on photo paper, then cutting it out and gluing it on a simulated fence:
