CSX & NS in Orange VA? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Did the C&O have trackage rights on the Southern from Orange northward? The track arrangement makes me think that. Otherwise why does CSX own that line south from Orange with CTC and all. There is no yard to interchange with NS there either. Yet it looks unused now.

Yes, the C&O had trackage rights from Orange all the way up to Potomac Yard in Alexandria, VA. I think the only thing using the former C&O (now Buchingham Branch) trackage between Orange and Gordonsville is Amtrak's Cardinal.

I was in Orange last weekend. Saw lots of NS and Amtrak traffic.
