This a.m. about 8 o'clock, a eastbound CSX freight (Q-398) had 8 cars (empty gons, loaded steel coil cars) derail in a rural area near New Market,MD. The train had 3 engines and 180 cars.
This trackage is about 40 miles west of Baltimore and is known as the "OLD MAIN LINE" the original route of the B&O.
It is fortunate that there was no haz-mat or spilled cargos, as this area about 1 mile west of Monrovia,MD. is inaccessible by road, and the tracks are bordered by Bush creek, a distressed waterway.
