CSX sponsors a Sprint Cup race car

CSX, a Jacksonville, Florida-based railroad, has partnered with Front Row Motorsports to sponsor a Sprint Cup Series racecar to spread the message to "Play It Safe" around railroad tracks and to "Brake for Trains."

As one of the nation's leading transportation suppliers, with a network covering 21,000 miles of railroad tracks in 23 states, CSX is committed to educating the public on railroad safety in the communities it serves.

"At CSX, safety is a way of life, and our NASCAR sponsorship continues to help CSX promote railroad safety education across our network," says Jim Marks, CSX Vice President of Safety. "We can reach a large, key demographic to remind race fans to not stop, walk or play on the tracks or near crossings and encourage them to use safe driving practices at railroad crossings."

Too bad it is a Ford.

It's not a Ford. It is a purpose-built race car with no brand heritage at all. Regardless of the sheet metal on the outside, underneath they are all the same. Chassis, engine, body profile and everything else is essentially identical from car to car. That's why I lost all interest in NASCAR many years ago.

There is absolutely nothing "STOCK" in the cars used in the National Association of STOCK CAR racing.

Personally I think they would do better having the 765 pull a string of special equipped passenger cars all over the CSX Railroad educating the public on railroad safety. Not unlike the "Freedom Train".

The public could also see the Big 765 in action........

I, as you lost interest in Stock Car Racing many, many, years ago. Probably  about the same time they did away with the old "Supercharged Gas Classes", in the NHRA!...........Ohio George Montgomery and his little blue 33 Willys...................Ooops, there goes that thread drift again.
