6x10 layout i picked up16awg from the web store. what should i use for the 20 for switches and 18for acc.hookup wireor speaker wire or somethig else. thanks tom

Tom, those should work fine.
Our local builder's supply stores carry
Lowes - (Both of the following have brown sleeves.)
18-AWG 2-Conductor Thermostat Wire (By-the-Foot)
Southwire 18-AWG 8-Conductor Thermostat Wire (By-the-Foot)
Home Depot - 65 ft. 20/2 Bell Wire red/white (no sleeve)
The Bell Wire in 500 foot rolls is an excellent turnout and lighting wire.
Since your title is DCS wire and you mention switches:
Do not power switches with track power and DCS. The coils in switches EAT DCS signals.
Power switches with Aux power not connected to the TIU. (Common can be connected at the transformer side of the TIU)
