I have an older conventional diesel engine that I'm not willing to invest in repairing and was wondering if anyone has disabled a motor before to make them as a Dummy for their fleet. It is a gp38 if it helps.
One doesn't "disable" a motor. It needs to be physically disconnected from the gearing to allow the wheels to free wheel, which means the motor or armature is usually totally removed. However, that effort isn't much less than simply performing the necessary repair so... repair it?
For most diesels, you remove the motor from the truck, then remove the motor mount from the motor and use that to secure the truck onto the frame. That gives you the dummy functionality.
Now, if this is an AC motor, we'll have to know a bit more about the model.
