Recently the front electrocoupler on lead unit in my Legacy E7 set (SKU #2133060) will sometimes fire constantly like in this video.

I haven't opened up the unit yet to take a look, but has anyone seen this before?

Sometime, reversing the two wires in the small white modular plug, associated with the coupler will allow for normal operation, but not a 100% fix. Often this indicates the couple coil has be over-heated by a stuck coupler button, handheld remote.   This usually requires a coupler replacement.   Operation board, that controls most of the engine's functions could also be part of the problem.

If he opens it up, warranty void, ….it has to go back for warranty repairs,…..

Had a busy couple months, finally called Lionel support this morning. The rep said that since I purchased this set second hand, there's no warranty. Since it's the front coupler on the leading A unit, I'm considering just removing the electrocoupler, fixing the pilot, and installing a Kadee coupler instead. I'll start a separate thread for that

It's probably a wire shorted to the frame, shouldn't be that hard to fix.

Now that I know Lionel won't look at it under warranty, I'll definitely be cracking it open and taking a look myself. I've fixed plenty of broken wires for electrocouplers and other parts of the loco before.

I am interested in adding a little realism to the loco, though, if it's not too much effort! I never use that front electrocoupler anyway
