And some beautiful vistas to go along with the trains!
i have been fortunate to have spent some time in england and had the opportunity to ride a few of the steam trains - great adventures and memories

That was excellent! The first sequence and the last sequence were especially interesting. In the first, the poor locomotive slips pretty hard, and the Driver never even shuts off, simply opens the cylinder cocks, i.e. what was he thinking!!!! In the last, that 3-cylinder locomotive is really lame, and is struggling on the grade.
Great stuff, and thanks for posting.
My wife and I were in the UK this past summer as part of a tour group. I enjoyed it much more than I thought that I would. The British Isles have the reputation as being cool and rainy, we had nine days of sunshine, which our tour director described as "unprecedented". And there are NO biting insects like mosquitos and gnats! I don't believe there is one screen window or door in the entire country. I did not see any steam except at the National museum at York, which rivals Steamtown or the Smithsonian. We can't wait to go back, and I would like to see that Niagara and the NKP Berk at Stapleford.....! Great country and friendly and welcoming people.
That breath taking scenery adds so much enjoyment. I could watch this same film repeatedly and not feel the least bit board. Glad everyone is enjoying it as well.

Stapleford Park is great. Took the youngest lad there a couple of years ago. He loved the Berk, which is I guess the nearest thing to his Lionel Polar Express we have here in the UK.
Plan your trip carefully if you want to visit Stapleford as it's only open to the public two weekends a year.
We do have midges but they are mainly a problem in Scotland at certain times of the year.

Excellent Video with great action and scenery!!
I like how the horse at 5:58 gets up from lying on the Pasteur ground to walking over to the fence and then watches the train go by, all of it. He seemed to be very interested. A real equine foamer!
Was that a stop at the 1 minute mark? Green thingys on the small bridge. They were car height when the train passed. Like a farmers stop or something.
I thought the lame engine at the 29 minute mark had a nice rhythm.
Hot water,
Is the british valving different than the US? They have a different sound. Only one sounded like it had any balls.

Not the valves that are different. The majority of the locomotives seen in that fantastic video are 3-Cylinder locomotives, thus the unusual exhaust cadence.
I'd be curious to know the value of the 3 cylinder design they used.
Thanks
Bob

The valves would be round "spool" type valves, just like on modern superheated steam locomotives in the U.S. and Canada.
Now if you are inquiring about the valve gear, that operates the valves, then some research will be involved, however my guess would be Walschaerts.
Thanks for posting. That was a great video to watch. I enjoyed it.
I THOUGHT SO! Three-cylinder locos DO make 50% more noise
than 2-cylinder!
BTW, one of those locos had a whistle that reminded me of an N&W Y6!
Railfan Heaven must be like this! ...Only with a little more sunshine!
