It would be much easier to read posts without the numerous and redundant quotes that too often fill up threads! A simple, "In response to" (forum member's name) would suffice without all the quote clutter.

It is my sincere belief that losing those excessive quotes will make all threads easier to follow. ☺
Agreed...but you're preaching to the choir. There is nothing any of the moderators can do about this other than tell people not do to it.
Understood, and thank you.
I'm with you, Art. Especially when quoting someone who has posted pictures. It's easy enough to delete the pics and anything but the pertinent text.
Keep the issue alive; change will come one member at a time. Bad habits don't change easily.
At bottom, folks who do it are just being lazy--hit "reply with quote" and neglect to edit out the irrelevant, redundant material, including photos. A considerate member would "reply with quote" and edit out all but the needed material.
The redundant photos drive me crazy.
Don't know if the web host can do it but is it possible to add a second step to reply with quote to force an opt-in of the OP's photos? Would automate some of the redundancy out.
I try to do short replies including the OP's name so they know I'm commenting on their post.

Sometimes replies with quotes helps so I don't have to scroll all the way back up to see or remember what someone else said.
If this is our biggest problem on the forum, then we are doing OK.
Have Fun!

It is easy to delete the pics and irrelevant passages of the text from the quotations, leaving just the necessary portions. But doing so requires that people care enough to make the VERY minimal effort.
I agree with Ron. The one thing I would like to see would be notifications that one of our posts has been quoted, when we log on.
could someone repeat the steps necessary to edit out the redundant pictures please
It gets to be like deja-vu repeating itself over and over on groundhog day one more time again...

Reply to WB47 without quoting his question...
Just place your cursor next the the stuff to want to delete and hit the delete key or backspace key depending on if you placed your cursor on the left or right of what it is you want to delete.
Whew... I was living dangerously there. I really wanted to quote him.
Have Fun!

Wow, it works. Thanks guys. Didn’t know how to do it.

You can very easily edit out all the extra stuff in the quote so you just give a clue as to what you're replying to. It's simply laziness that is the issue.

Just move the cursor up in the quote, select what you'd like to remove, hit the DEL key.
Is it possible to edit the forum's theme to modify the formatting of the quotes to make them less intrusive? Small font size, less padding, etc?
Maybe everyone should just learn how to use the quotes rather than making changes to the forum. The excessive redundant quotes can easily be solved by the users without an help from Alan, Rich, or the programmers. It's really not that hard to figure out.

That is a pretty good idea.

Can I quote you on that?

No.

Yes!
Maybe time to close this one Rich.
I apologize if I offended anyone with my suggestion. ☺
Did not follow the last several posts. It would be wonderful if the folks running the show just eliminated the "reply with quote" button.
Aside from repeating the same batches of photos twenty times on the Saturday Switcher deal, it would eliminate those awful nested replies that often string on like mirrors facing each other.
Hooray for the OP!

I have repeatedly said that we do not have the ability to do this. It would be wonderful if the folks READING this forum would do a little reading before making a remark like this.
There’s no need for an apology, Art. This is a legitimate problem. But as I said earlier, we’re all “preaching to the choir” here. All we can do is spread the word to other members as best we can.
I am going to close this thread, now.
