I am considering one of the Lionel "conventional" GG-1s that appeared in the 2011 Signature catalog.   I am interested in how powerful they are & what kind of "runners" they are.  The catalog  description says they have a "powerful maintenance-free motor," which I take as a euphemism for a single can motor.

Actually, I prefer the cans over the noisy Pull-Mors, but wonder if a single can motor provides sufficient pulling power.

Can they pull 6 fluted aluminum Williams streamliner reproductions?

If anyone can testify, I sure would appreciate your thoughts/experience if you have one.   Thank you all very much!

I have the 5 strip, Brunswick K-line version from the club offering in the early 2000's. Mine is the conventional version. I believe it was only $100 at the time. It has two can motors and is a very smooth runner. Seems like it can pull an endless string of cars though I've never tested it beyond a dozen.

The doors are indeed, fully defined ad they include full length, thin, wire grab bars. Otherwise, it seems to subscribe to the Postwar stylings.

I've thought about upgrading it to CC via the ERR cruise and sound commanders.

Friend of mine got one a few years ago.  It wobbles and shakes all over the place....not what I'm looking for at all !

One Lionel's conventional GG-1's from 2011  ??

It may have the wrong size traction tires on it. Lionel had tires on them that were to thick. Only the tires was touching the track not the other wheels. Check the outside dia. of the wheels .
