Interesting, thanks for sharing. Are you sure it was '72? I didn't think the Spirit of '76 locos were out that early. '72 was a good year.
Inflation..!!!!
That sounds like about when l bought a lot of dumped HO locos from a closing Woolco store. Wonder when Woolworth's last advertised O gauge Marx?
WOW Aurora AFX! I remember those sets! I had a couple!
I used to buy my HO stuff at Woolworths's as a kid, mostly AHM engines and cars, at Corvette's mall in Mt. Airy on Cheltenham Ave. (outside of Phila.). Mall was torn down and was made into a golf course around 1977. Not sure what is there now since I haven't been back since 1977.
OK. Looks good. I thought it was around '73.
Oh Wow!
AHM from Woolworths..... great memories. I still have an AHM record of steam on Horseshoe Curve I purchased back in the 60's . I spent many a Saturday walking down the isles of affordable HO supplies and trains. Where else could I find that cheap fiber tie flex track and that strange blue Life-Like track cleaner ?

Interesting ad, thank you for sharing it and waking old memories of visits to Woolworth with my Mom. After shopping she would by me a Woolworths ice cream sandwich. Sure was a long time ago,
My mom worked for Woolworth's and then for an early local big box discount store that went out of business. All the local dept. and dime stores closed, and then Woolco, many of the K-Marts, .....

I think the brand was there till Marx trains demise and a bit after; 75-76?
Ah, memories. Back in the early 1970's the local (Fort Smith, AR) "Woolco" was closing out AHM stuff and AHM rolling stock could be had for .99 cents!
We had Woolco, a part of Woolworths, in our area. I still have the AHM SP Cab Forward that I bought for $18.99.....a huge sum at the time......but MAN I loved that loco!!! They ran these sales twice a year......lots of my train stuff came from the Woolco sales!!!
Memory Lane! My Dad bought Woolworth N gauge Postage stamp trains 1969-70, I believe Aurora made them. The Postage Stamp trains was quite the size difference from My O gauge Marx and Lionel! Still have some of the postage stamp and of course O gauge stuff.

Postage stamp Aurora N scale trains were made by Minitrix of Germany. Aurora was the importer and marketer. Revell, another plastic model maker, did the same with 'Revell Rapido' N scale trains. I still have a F9 by Minitrix and a die cast FA1 loco by Revell Rapido. Still run great almost 50 years later.
