When viewing a thread topic I recently noticed the pop-up display of a topic's "thread title" that now appears as a constant or fixed or static rolling style title banner just below the forum's existing 10+ top located blue header/category band.  I hope that OGR and Crowd Stack reconsider and turn off the use of this fixed title space eating add-on that eats up about 1 inch of vertical space on my 14" display.  I've included a snapshot of this feature as displayed on a 14" display for your reference.

IMHO, the fixed/static title display feature might be useful for large spreadsheets or documents, but is more inconvenient on this forum that by "default" displays 20 replies, although 40, 100 or 200 reply displays are available options.  Maybe the new feature helps those of us who might have memory lapses as to what topic we selected but thankfully I'm not quite there ...yet. ;-)

EDIT:  Forgot to add that my attached pic is w/ Firefox browser but the same fixed thread title also occurs when I use chrome or the new MS edge browser.  The fixed title only occurs when viewing within a thread, but does not occur when you scroll down within a forum category's listing of various thread topics.

It's real.  I first noticed it a while ago (I forget exactly when, but probably the last month or maybe 6 weeks).

I successfully blocked that element using AdBlock Plus back when it appeared, so I haven't thought about it much.  Here's the code AdBlock Plus says it is blocking:

ogrforum.ogaugerr.com##.line-item.h-title-line

When I toggled that filter to "off" and reloaded the page, I see it again.

Works exactly like Keystone and rtr12 described it on this end.  I know I didn't consciously change any browser settings when it first appeared, unless it was possibly "brought to life" by a Firefox update around the time it appeared. (while settings normally are retained pretty well for me with updates, it probably would not be the first time some odd setting did get messed with during an update - so I would not go so far as to say it's impossible, just that any change was not operator initiated if it was some odd-ball browser setting that got messed with during an update.  If it was, it conveniently ONLY happens on this website.

Hopefully I didn't just screw myself by explaining how I blocked it to Crowdstack and they do something different now to put it back.   I agree, it IS an EXTREMELY annoying "feature" on a small laptop screen.

But such is life on the interwebs.... change for the sake of change.... just like the little bell instead of follow, right? (might have actually been around the same time, now that I think of it....)

I get it to running Chrome Windows 7 but not on my old iPad.  Screen resolution is 2560x1440.  It's only after I scroll down off the top of the page.  Not terrible for me but it could be smaller.  I'm sure this is a Crowdstack "feature" they added for no reason than to give Rich a headache.

I've been seeing it for at least a week, but maybe it's been there all along and I just never noticed it before. I'm using Windows 10 w/Firefox (78.0.2 64-bit) browser on a desktop computer with 27" display @1920x1080 resolution.

Funny thing, I use Win-10 with FF as well, and I don't see that.

Marty is right, when you scroll down, then it appears.  I truthfully hadn't noticed it, and with a 1920 x 1080 display, I haven't had any issues with it showing up.  Interesting that it disappears if you block the ads, but so does the handy little bell to subscribe to the thread.

I don't have a big problem with that, but I guess it could be a little less greedy of screen real estate.  I can't see any reason for the huge lettering myself.

My display setting on my 14" Win10 is also 1920 x 1080 and I also run AdBlocker Ultimate and Ghostery extensions and as posted above see the fixed/static thread title as I scroll down with the newest Firefox, Chrome and Edge browsers.  FWIW I also get the same on a Macbook Pro running the newest IOS w/ safari and chrome browsers.

Brendan figured it out in his post above. It is not related to screen resolution. It is related to how large your browser window is.

I don't run Firefox at full size. I run it at a smaller window size because it's easier for me to use that way. However, when I stretched the Firefox window a little wider, I got the banner at the top, too.

I have submitted a tech support ticket to the Crowdstack folks to find out if I can shut this off.

I never noticed it until I saw this thread.  However, I usually have multiple windows open side by side.  (So I can watch Virtual Railfan and check the forum.)  The title "feature" shuts off at about half screen width on my 1920 by 1080 monitor.

Ironically, there are web sites where I have to widen the browser window so they go into desktop mode instead of phone mode.  Then there are those that are always in phone mode like the horrible, barely usable current iteration of the Lionel website.
