Flyer's "Bay Window" Caboose | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Do many of you have Flyer's "bay window" caboose? I understand it was the first new Flyer item tooled under Lionel ownership. In looking for newly-produced versions of it, however, I checked Lionel's website & see that they apparently have not offered one since about 2001. I wonder why?

According to Lionel's product locator, the last "Gilbert style" bay window caboose was the Rock Island caboose in 2002:

It surfaced again minus the cupola in 2005 and has been offered in several other road names since:

I suspect the tooling was permanently modified to eliminate the cupola.

Yes, I was mistaken... it was actually last made in 2011 in a red, W.P. version.

Gee, I like the cupola! Will have to go hunting for some of those at York!

I amputated the cupola and scalified one back in the mid-1980's:
