@RSJB18 - hey I was reviewing the pictures on this thread and saw the "Two Cousins Fish Market" refer on your layout.  If you get a chance could you send some info on that car especially how to get one?  Don

Don- it was a special order car done for Nassau Hobby. When I'm on my laptop tomorrow I can send you the details. I used to go to their store with my mom when I was a kid.

Front End Friday of the HO style for me today.  Here is my Milwaukee Road Little Joe locomotive by MTH that just became available off of pre-order.  Purchased mine from TrainWorld. Ran the set at my club layout (South Florida Railway Museum).

Happy Front End Friday, everyone

I like your MILW Little Joe. It looks really good hauling your "excursion" consist. Because I rode it several times to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore while in college, I got the CSS&SB #803 from TW. Unfortunately, I'm having problems with the rear pantograph not raising in reverse. Both pantos are properly released as the rear one was in the "up" position after release. I first ran the loco in "forward" and the rear lowered and the front raised as expected. Then, when I reversed, the front lowered and the rear stayed down and it's been down ever since. I've contacted MTH and heard nothing back for over a week. I think I may have a bad panto control module. Have you had any problems with your pantograph operation?

Good morning Bill.

I like the term "excursion" that you used here.  I'm going to use that term to describe from now on until the consist gets longer.  When I was programming the loco that night on the program track, I tried operating the pantographs a bit but I more interested at the time at getting the set on to the track in my time window (it was a busy night).  I don't have any thing set up at home, so the next time I go to the club, I'll be going there with just the Little Joe with the purpose of placing it on the program track and learning the pantograph features.  I like passenger trains and really didn't realize the percentage share of electrics I had in my inventory until somebody mentioned in good humor "Kevin and his electrics" .

Because the tunnel portal heights aren't high enough, I run all my electrics (Metroliner, SEPTA, Acela, etc.) with the non-operable pantographs down.  With this particular Little Joe, I want to run it and move the pantographs down and up when operating through the tunnels (a hands on interactive approach to model railroading).

Here is the video that I took of the Little Joe that night.  Other videos of my electrics can be seen on my YouTube channel.  I haven't posted any videos in a while here at OGR in the HONGZ or Real Trains categories, so I need to get back on the highball.

Here's my contribution to Front End Friday on a Saturday! On the Golden Gate Lionel RR Club module during our show at Hiller Aviation Museum.

RAY

Ray, nice pics, never too late for FeF! Is the GGLRRC layout still setup at the Hiller Museum? I guess I could go to  GGLRRC website to find out. San Carlos isn’t too far from where I live. 👍

Scott,

Hiller Aviation Museum is doing their annual "Trains and Planes" for the entire week. It begins today, April 8 and ends next Sunday April 16, closed on Easter Sunday.

It opens up at 10 AM and closes at 5 PM every day. I will be there on Monday April 10 and again Thursday April 13. Will be running the morning shift with 5 other members, 10 AM to 2 PM. 6 other members will cover the afternoon shift each day.

Please do stop by and say hello. Our members live all over the bay area, and we enjoy our get togethers. If you would like to join, let one of the members know. Dues are only $25 a year, less than the cost of 2 lunches out with friends.

Well here it is another F.E.F. as we head into the weekend.  This engine is based on the PRR torpedo type.  It was rumored that Raymond Lowery had actually modeled a similar engine and tested it in a wind tunnel.  So for this Friday, we can pretend that this is a PRR prototype (maybe!)

The story goes that the horizontal vane in front was to raise the smoke so that it didn't go into the cab.  Where the Lionel symbol is was where the PRR was to have put its logo with wings on each side...like I said it's a rumor so who knows if any of this is true.  So here is the F.E.F view of the Lionel 4-4-2 # 238E from 1936-38 and uncatalogued in 1939-1940.

Here is a better view of the entire engine and tender.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  Best Wishes

Not familiar with the subway tech Strap but does that ' F '  stand for FRONT ?

Hi Dallas. No. The letter designated a specific route for the train. For example, the F train during the time I model, ran on a route  from Queens to midtown Manhattan and then turning south to Brooklyn. Other letters and numbers on various NYC subway trains  ran different routes.  This was all incorporated on a map to help riders figure out how to get to their appropriate destination by train . See the current map here with letter/number designations for routes - https://docs.google.com/viewer.../maps/subway_map.pdf
