In 2005, a small group of us concocted a trip from Chicago to LA on the SW Chief. In doing some research before the trip, I stumbled upon Crew Chief Bob Stone's website highlighting his crew (crew 10 on the Chief route). www.crewten.com
As fortune would have it, when our trip date arrived, the attendants boarding us at Chicago Union were the people of crew 10, and Efren Cuadro was our sleeping car attendant.
Fast forward to today. I walked over to the Alpine depot to watch #1 come in (on time), and standing in the door of the first sleeper is Efren! I walked up to the headend, and we had a nice 5 minute visit. The fraternal aspect of railroading just never seems to fade for some of us.
