In the late 1970's, EMD made some locomotives called the GP40X's. On the SP and UP units, EMD placed a different sort of B-B trucks on them. What were they called? Guess they did not work out, because they were the only ones that had them, I think.
They were radial trucks, thus referred to as HTB-R, i.e. High Traction B, Radial. They worked fine, but since railroads stopped purchasing GP60 units, or ANY new GP units for that matter, the HTB-R truck never went into production.
