This reminds us of how much railroading knowledge has been lost with the departure of the last generation of railroaders whose reputation was based on their skills.
WOW!!! What a mess.
PURE carelessness that should, but probably will not, have consequences for the persons involved!
THE Driver!!!!!! THE Driver!!!!! What the Heck is THE Driver!!!!! Maybe if he had Engineer Training he would not be THE Driver. And where was the Conductor. OH that's right, this was down under. Remember this when your State tries to legalize one man crews. Oh Boy!! THE Driver!!!
Hi from down under:
Just had to add to the comment of "Forest" - Yes in Australia we call the engineer (the guy at the front of the train at the controls of the loco) the "train driver" That's just the way it is with us convicts!!!
We even call "turnouts or switches" - "Points" - go figure!!!
Anyway, rail guys in America know exactly what you mean when you post items using your terminology, and we "convicts" struggle to understand the lingo, but we do, and we learn along the way - so please be patient with us and our funny way of expressing things - "train drivers" for instance.

My late Dad who was 3rd generation always said this.
You ride a bike.
You drive a car.
But An Engineer runs a train.
