So I'm picking up a Railking Allegheny 2-6-6-6 this weekend and I'm looking for some good Norfolk Western hoppers to go with it. I've found different options, but most have been discontinued and are hard to find. I was originally going to go with the silver Williams N&W hopper, but realized it was taller than the train. I thought this might look a little odd. I'm not looking for perfect; I just want to pull off something that looks like something similar may have run at some point in time Smile I don't care if it's scale or not; just need it to look decent. Prefer silver, but black is OK. And I need 5 or 6 of them Smile

Any suggestions?

Thanks all !!!

I like the Weavers, but if you add the price of the coal load, it gets pretty steep per car. How is the quality of the RMT? I'd like to find dimensions on them but haven't had any luck, even on their site (unless I missed it...). I did check the bay, and there are some things there that look interesting, but I have to weigh the "bargain" aspect of it.

What is the consensus of the Williams cars? They are 3 1/2 inches tall and the 2-6-6-6 is a whopping 3 5/16. I'm concerned they will look strange even though it's only a quarter inch.

Thoughts?

Keep suggestions coming!

Thanks!!!!

PS: What is the consensus of the RMT cars? Anyone have the dimensions?

I have this loco and RMT hoppers they are nicely detailed and the trucks with real springs look particularly sharp. The look good together. The RMT hoppers are in the foreground.
phillman, good point, but he's bound to know about the C&O and for some reason wants N&W cars. Unless it's a Virginian and maybe they pulled a lot of N&W hoppers.

About the Weavers, you can buy them empty and run them that way. No harm done and cheaper. And, you can make your own coal loads for almost nothing. It's not hard and would be as good as if not better than anything you could buy.
