Is this before startup? And at what track voltage?
Hi well It's starting up in conventional so i only have 9 volt and shows 2 amps on z4000 transformer any help would be appreciate it hope Jon Grasson gives hi input !

Well in conventional if the smoke unit is on, 2 amps would not be unreasonable IMO. Will it run forward and back. Any sounds or lights on? If no lights at 9V on the track there may well be something wrong.
Hi Rod no offence but your wrong 2 amp would only exist if smoke unit is turned on! so I'm sure it is a engine board not in the tender, but thanks for trying really appreciated, the RCMC board is $200.00 here as the rcl board is$99.0 plus shipping!
Sincerely thanks Rod for trying

Alan,
Please remember the lower the track voltage, the higher the amps to obtain the same wattage/power. Not sure how the control boards are configured, but if they are trying to put the same power to the smoke unit, they will pull more amps from the lower voltage source (track voltage).
Do you have the capability to run in command control? If so, how many amps does it pull at 18 volts track voltage with smoke unit on and then with smoke unit off?
Also, I would carefully inspect the smoke unit and check the resistance across the elements and amp pull of the fan motor. At their correct voltage, they will not pull 2 amps. That is too much.
Hi it only pulls 2 amp if the smoke unit is set on when using remote is set on hi otherwise, barely not current at All ! I know the problem is in the engine as the tender is not connected!

Read it again; that's what I said.
