Is anyone else out there mesmerized by historic yard shots? They are a great resource for planning your fleet plus they enable you to accurately gauge needed weathering. Here are a bunch from my collection from the 40's through the 70's:
Provisio Yard 1943- notice how sooty the steam era was......
Sunny Side Yard NY 1965- Notice the mix of new color and older steam era cars. This is my favorite look.
Allentown Yard in the mid 70's (lots of color)
Here is an Sp yard in the mid 70's. Lots of lumber...looks like some wood chip cars over there? Maybe a sprinkling of steam era cars. Miss the SP and SSW
