Thanks GGG.  I wanted to use it because it is half the price of their 4amp decoder.  I guess this is too much loco for that guy.

 

The PS2 loco runs fine conventionally.  The sounds start up at full blast but instantly go back to half-volume and stays there.  Twisting the pot has no effect on the volume.  The guy who sold it to me said  id for the locomotive cannot be located in DCS.

 

I was hoping to run this in DCC with my PS3 locos.

Does it play shutdown sounds when you turn track power off?  I would disconnect battery and start up again.  Does the volume play normal?  If so, just replace the battey.  If not, if may either be Power Supply (repairable), or Processor (not repairable).  G
