i have a bachmann sound value dcc set. The engine was squeaking so I oiled it. To much oil. The oil got on the tracks and now the train won't run. It starts to move and then shuts down. Any advice on how to clean the track/trains is greatly appreciated.

How much oil are you talking about? Did you dip the entire engine or just an excess squirt?
Exactly what oil did you use?
What is/was the track like? Perfectly shinny clean of dirty / aged?
Could you have dislodged the wiper contacts with the oil container nozzle?
Does your equipment have dirty plastic wheels depositing crud on the rail heads?
Does an amp meter show a load? Amp/volt meter essential.
With slight down pressure, power up one truck while holding the other down on a strong paper towel or cotton cloth. m Be careful not to get cloth, paper of Q-tip residue on the track joints or drive truck gears or other sharp edges
Has the engine been running in a normal fashion all along until just now or did it just come out of a long extended storage.
What kind of moisture conditions has the chassis be exposed to? Dry temperature con trolled bedroom or moist cold basement?
Is this an ancient piece or relatively recent engine?

Sometimes excess oil can be cleaned up with a Qtip. I find genuine Qtip brand ones work best. When the tip is oil soaked, get a fresh one.
