"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Here is my first complete Steam train. Broadway Limited 2-8-0 Rock Island with paragon 3 rolling thunder sound, smoke and 28 different sounds from the decoder. 12 stock cars from athearn, Bachman and broadway limited. Two of the broadway limited cars have cattle sounds, looking to add sheep-chickens-hogs and mule sound cars when they hit the hobby shops.

Very cool train!!!

So, what do you think about the Rolling Thunder sound system?

Jim

I LOVE IT.

I have a NS SD9 and it vibrates the whole townhouse when I put the subwoofer on, I have it sitting on the concrete floor in the basement.

The rock island 2-8-0 sounds just like a real steam engine.

I have a N&W #1238 2-6-6-4 coming tomorrow, can't wait to hear that with the rolling thunder.

I choose the 1238 over a new cab forward because I got it from the refurb shop on broadway limited's website. It will still come with a full warranty and if I register online it goes for 2 full years. It was also $70 cheaper than a new cab forward too.

I will post a video of each with the rolling thunder this weekend. stay tuned...

Here is my new Broadway Limited N&W 2-6-6-4 #1238 with rolling thunder sound. Turn up the volume and enjoy this rich HD sound from a small HO engine.

Here is the Broadway Limited NS SD9 #52 with rolling thunder sound. Keep the sound up and enjoy, this rolling thunder makes you feel like your standing next to the tracks.

You've made some very nice acquisitions here Pete - especially that Class A. What a beauty! I'm very much looking forward to hearing the Rolling Thunder in person as it sounds like a great concept for sure.

Too bad Mike isn't at the forefront of things any longer as this is a concept MTH should have come up with!

Very cool!

I REALLY love sound. It's a big part of the reason I got back into model railroading .... HO & O.

How well do these BLI diesels run? Sometimes you can't be sure looking at YouTube's. I have read good reviews about them .... the AC6000's, anyway.

Does your SD7 run smoothly .... at slow speed?

I've been using Atlas and Athearn since I was a teen. Would love to stick with them. But, I think this BLI sub-woofer system is really cool!

Jim,

The SD9 will crawl at 1 mph pulling the 12 athearn coal cars and the caboose. I also have a intermountain LV FT AB set that will do the same. I have a third diesel on pre-order from scale trains, a SD40-2 with Loksound in NS paint to run with the SD9. I really like the Loksound from the intermountain too, we just installed TCS wowsound into my son's bachmann 765 that came with the sound value decoder from soundtraxx. I really like what bachmann is doing with the sound value line of engines, but the sound from the same speaker with the wowsound decoder is twice as loud. But the paragon 3 from broadway limited with the rolling thunder has taken model railroading to a higher lever of sound.

My 3rd Broadway Limited Paragon 3 steam engine came today, a Lehigh and New England 2-8-2. In real life it was a PRR Class L-I-s built in May 1915 as #1318 at Juniata Shops. It was bought by the L&NE on February 13, 1941. They ran it till she was scrapped at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem on October 27, 1948. Video to follow with rolling thunder on saturday, did a quick rolling thunder for about 30 seconds tonight and was left speechless.
