That is just spectacular! And that it both loads and unloads is something that is really is really an achievement. Of course, you’ve now caused the quadrupling in price of the #460. I can’t wait to see your article.
Awesome.

David, You should be sure that your phone number is in your profile. Lionel will be calling you. You have accomplish something no Lionel Engineer has. What you have done is truly amazing. Before Christmas, I remember seeing a Marx train layout that you had constructed. You displayed it, for different groups of people. Please continue to keep up this wonderful work.
@Former Member, I'm sure I've seen this, by you, before today and within the last 18 months... is this a refinement of the project?
Hi Rob, I posted the video about a year ago. It's the same video and I haven't refined it since. I posted it again since Classic Toy Trains will have a construction article about it in the next issue.
Very impressive! Lionel should consider doing this. This makes the 460 a worthwhile accessory.
I read your CTT article. It is very well written with lots of detail and pictures. One thing I didn't see though was a part number for the motor. Can you provide that or even better a direct link. Thanks.
I bought my 1000:1 micro motors off of Ebay for a very modest price. Search 1000:1 gear motor
The article states incorrectly that the gear motor is AC, but it is of course DC.
Here's what you are looking for from the manufacturer's site:
Nice work, David!
Could you please post a picture of the control box? Did you consider making the control wireless, or would that have not worked?
Love your work David! Another masterpiece.

Well done, Dave!

To keep with my Postwar theme I used a Lionel UCS control box for the Piggyback control. Here is what it looks like.
That is cool. I have a couple extra of those lying around. I'll steal your idea!
