Pro Hobby,

Wish I had photos of some loads we received when I worked the West Indies Shipping docks in Channelview, Texas.  It was not unusual to receive from the Port Terminal RR such pieces of refinery units for shipment oversees.  Some close to two hundred feet in length, with two idler cars between the load bearing cars, in addition to the idler cars before and after the load.  The equipment, itself, was secured with the cables and turnbuckles shown to swivel bolsters, heavily greased.  We would off load from the railcars, one end at a time, with Manitowoc 250 ton lift cranes, 4100W, 90 ft main boom, and resecure to our own bolsters mounted to car bodies from Manitowoc crawler cranes.  Using a D8 or D9  Caterpillar, we could move it around the dock and drive, backing up, onto the heavy lift company ships we utilized.   Over all, in the years I worked there, saw many specialized consists roll down to our docks and shipped overseas.  I am in process of modeling a drop center, heavy duty flat to replicate some I remember from my younger days.  Thanks for the great pic.   And, yes, must have 120 curves for this baby...........
