After more than a month of not receiving, via E-Mail, notifications from the OGR Forum https://ogrforum.com/...2#176413147189832542, my notifications have been restored.

Alan Arnold responded to the topic in the link above saying that I was the only forum member that had reported such a problem. Alan did get help from those familiar with the technical operation of the OGR Forum, including Rich Melvin. Rich, after much investigation, did look into my user account and noticed that, somewhere, deep in a "Settings" menu, the option to suspend E-Mail notifications had been clicked and activated. Rich told me to deactivate that setting and all would probably be well. I deactivated the option to no avail. This transpired in early July. I was still without E-Mail notification service. I could still view the forum to make posts, etc.

About 3 days ago, miraculously, my E-Mail notifications reappeared. Though, being computer and somewhat internet savvy, I know that magic does not happen. But now, The E-Mail notification service has come back with a "vengeance". Where before, I was only getting notifications on forum topics to which I either liked or replied, it seems now that I am being notified, via a bombardment of E-Mails, of topics of which I have never heard. Whereas before, I was receiving about 50 to 60 notifications a day from the OGR Forum, I now receive 200 to 250. Can anyone now suggest an adjustment to my account settings to get this back to what I perceive to be normal E-Mail volume?

Still, even with an exploding E-Mail mailbox...

Its GREAT to be back

As I had told you in our conversations about this problem, your email address / provider can be a problem in particular AOL is known to have unpredictable spam filters.  It is not unusual for folks with AOL and even Yahoo to experience something like you did.  At the time of your problem, we were not getting reports from anyone else with a similar problem as you had.  Anyway, I will let Rich and others try to help with this new problem but I suspect that you will have to go into your settings and perhaps turn off all notifications and then after a few days add back only those you want.

Good to see you are getting email again. Now, go back into your notification settings and make sure you don't have them set to notify you of everything going on here. It sounds like that's what is going on.

Get selective about the notifications and tweak them to suit your interests.
