I am working on a control panel, see the picture. There are ten FasTrack switches on the layout. The control panel is in a drawer. The owner wants an indicator light on the panel at the switch location for each spur and siding to show when the switch is in the "OUT" position.
My plan is to run the four wires from the controller remote switch to the barrier strip. I was going to connect an LED bulb across the barrier strip on the Gnd/Black and Out/Red. Before I set it up, I realized that this plan works for the old remote switches that had light bulbs indicating the direction, but with the LED and electronics, I figured I would ask for advice before setting this up.
1. Will this work?
2. When the switch is moved to the OUT position, is it a steady or instantaneous voltage?
3. I read somewhere on this forum that the RSC light is a +/- 5 volts to indicate direction/color. Would it work to connect across the RSC and GND on the barrier? Is there a supplier of screw base bulbs that are 5 volt LED with red in one "voltage direction" and green in the other?
4. Can a 5-volt LED light bulb be placed in the socket, a diode placed on one lead, so the light bulb lights only in one voltage +/-?
5. Does anyone have a supplier of screw base LED 5 volt bulbs? With either one color or two colors?
Thank you, Hank
