How do you reset a legacy engine to factory settings using cab 3?

If it's a 2010 or later with the RCMC or the LCP2/LCP3 boards, switch the engine to PGM and assign it a TMCC address, that resets it.
If it's an early Legacy, assign the TMCC address and then AUX1-"1" for steam and AUX1-"2" for diesels.
That makes sense, I’ll try it.

If I recall correctly I actually think the LCP2/LCP3 you have to push and hold reset until you hear a ding I think.
either way a product number does wonders and the manual should that that information

You are correct, that's an extra step with the LCP boards, not sure why they thought that was needed.
This is from my 2023 VL-BB manual.
