Anyone know if the cab front red marker lights should be working in a lashup?
I'm wondering if I am the only one who has noticed on the legacy GTW F3 A-A's, the red marker lights that light up in reverse when engines are addressed individually are off when they're run with the units addressed as a lashup.
I would think the red marker lights should be lit as a lashup no different then when addressed individually.

It is a known issue with the current F3s.

From the Legacy User's Group Meeting...

7. The front and rear markers on the F3s do not respond correctly in MU. On my GTW and Milwaukee units they just go dark. If engines are addressed independently, colors all work like they should. Will these be addressed in future or current releases?

Jon Z's answer...
The locos are the limiting factor here, not the Legacy system. The locos are operating as designed. The new electronics package in the locos delivered this year enhances the Marker light control and operation.

My legacy Lionmaster SD80's do the same thing. The markers on whichever unit is in the front are on (both ends) and when you change directions, the other unit turns on. The ditch lights on the dummy unit don't work in a lashup either for some reason, unless it's addressed as the front locomotive which doesn't work since there is no sound system in it to make the horn sound.

Thanks Marty.
I was hoping the issue was correctable.
Funny thing, when in a lashup, at startup the red lights on the dummy unit are correctly lit and do turn off when the engine begins to move forward but thats where it ends.. They won't turn on again unless power is interupted.

I have the Frisco version and called Lionel about the issue. It's a bummer because the idea of not turning on the reverse light when in lash up is a nice idea. And only having the marker lights on when in reverse is also a nice idea. The problem lies in the design that basically says: "when reverse light is off, marker lights should be off too" and ignores the lash up variable (engine is in reverse even though reverse light is not on).

I run mine without the lash up because the lights are just way too cool to not have on. A few extra key strokes are needed when reversing directions, but its worth it.

While this really isn't such a bad thing when only running the set (with a dummy engine), I think it would be a much less tolerable situation when running a true (multiple powered engines) lash up.

I have the same problem with my Legacy SF PA1 ABA trainset (6-34568 & 6-34569).  In this trainset, powered #51 is the lead unit, powered B unit #53 is in the middle and non-powered A unit #52 is the unit.  I have them lashed up as a train.  It all works perfectly except for the lead unit marker lights and the lead unit Mars light.  The front marker lights are dark and the Mars light doesn't flash.  The red marker lights do work on the trailing & reversed A unit.

Until I read this forum I thought I might be missing a key in my Legacy v1.3 cab2 or that there was something wrong with the lead unit wiring.  In the back of the v1.3 manual (pg 84) is a table labeled "V1.3 Touch-Screen Icons Reference".  These icons include "engine marker on" and "engine marker off".  In the preceding table (pg 83) there are icons for "Mars on" and "Mars off".  Why can't I access these on a touch screen???
